In January of this year, President Lenin Moreno of Ecuador referred to Julian Assange as an “inherited problem” who has “created more than a nuisance.” Apparently none of the so-called “journalists” in mass media (which includes both privately owned corporate media as well as state-owned public media), regardless of their political orientation, thought to press Moreno on the context of his statements and what exactly he was talking about. After all, he’s talking about Assange and even names him directly as a source of trouble for Ecuador’s international relations. Then again, many of these so-called “journalists” have never read The Prince by Machiavelli, The Art of War by Sun Tzu, The Wealth of Nations by Adam Smith, and Das Kapital by Karl Marx. If the US ever hopes to save itself from self-destruction and nuclear holocaust, these four books should be required reading in the curriculum of every American elementary school.
The fatal error of this conclusion is in taking Moreno’s word at face value and not analyzing what is actually motivating his apparent hatred and animosity toward Assange. Politicians, by their very nature, are liars. Politics is the art of diplomacy and diplomacy is the art of lying. They are not mutually exclusive, but one and the same. Like the stock market, real estate and blue chip art speculation, it’s all bullshit.
The richest one percent of this country owns half our country’s wealth, five trillion dollars. One third of that comes from hard work, two thirds comes from inheritance, interest on interest accumulating to widows and idiot sons and what I do, stock and real estate speculation. It’s bullshit. You got ninety percent of the American public out there with little or no net worth. I create nothing. I own. We make the rules, pal. The news, war, peace, famine, upheaval, the price per paper clip. We pick that rabbit out of the hat while everybody sits out there wondering how the hell we did it. Now you’re not naive enough to think we’re living in a democracy, are you buddy? It’s the free market. And you’re a part of it.

As we covered in an earlier article, Julian Assange has become a victim and pawn of the global and regional powers in their struggles with and against each other. After the release of Collateral Murder and the shameful outing of Chelsea Manning by Adrian Lamo (who died under highly suspicious circumstances this past March) and Kevin Poulsen in 2010 at the behest of the FBI and the rest of the US Intelligence Community, silencing Assange became the top priority for every single government, banking institution, multinational corporation and most NGOs.
This is a key factor that no one in the mass media seems to want to admit, let alone acknowledge: that Assange is a not a friend or ally to any government, global banking institution or organizations in general. Even documentary filmmaker Laura Poitras, who has denounced Assange and WikiLeaks, has gone on the record to acknowledge that Assange is not a foreign agent:
All you need to do is do a bit of research into WikiLeaks and realize that he’s actually very consistent here. He’s interested in publishing information, and I feel pretty confident if he had had, for instance, Donald Trump’s tax returns, we would have seen them on WikiLeaks. Julian is not somebody who is going to withhold information to assist a political party; that’s not what his, you know, that’s not his mission or his philosophy. He’s interested in releasing information about, from all parties. I mean, you hear it in the film, where he’s talking about the Syria leak, and he says “it’s an equal opportunity leak.” I mean, that’s, you know, people can criticize that, but the idea that he was doing targeted releasing to damage one political party over the other, I don’t believe that. Which isn’t to say that what he was given didn’t have some motivations behind it. But I’m not sure that journalists should be censoring any information because, because to sort of parse out the motives of who the source is.
But most journalists still don’t get it, because they’re not supposed to “get it.” Mass media oligarchs, like their bought-and-paid-for friends and flunkies in government, don’t like facts that are actually true, but rather “facts” that they can manufacture wholesale and propagate across the world to a seemingly gullible public. But in this brave new world of instant information and media overload, people aren’t so gullible and complacent anymore. The age of ideology and the political personality cult died many decades ago, and the back-to-back failures of US foreign policy and pre-emptive wars since 1998 has all but assured the impossibility of a US-led unipolar “New World Order.” As a consequence, we are increasingly witnessing the evolution of a multipolar global hegemony and economic dictatorship operating outside official government channels through summits, conferences, think-tanks and NGOs like the Council on Foreign Relations, Bilderberg Group, TED Talks, Club of Rome, and many others.
This is precisely why Wikileaks came about in the first place and why people like Julian Assange, Chelsea Manning and Edward Snowden have sacrificed all that they have in order to get the real truth out there, and debunk the lies of governments and multinational corporations and entities. Assange, Manning, Snowden and WikiLeaks continue to exist, against all odds and the entire weight of the world against them, because anyone with half a brain knows that there is no democracy anywhere, elections are mostly rigged shams, and that no politician of any kind can ever be trusted. Given the human tendency toward tribalism and barbarism when organized into groups—any kind of group, whether political, social, religious or commercial—there should, under ideal circumstances, be some form of transparency and accountability between the masses and the political and corporate oligarchs that rule over them.
Therein lies the answer to the strange desperation of Lenin Moreno and his allies to evict Julian Assange from the embassy. The issue of granting Assange political asylum and ostensibly unconditional refuge was one of several rifts between Moreno and his predecessor and mentor, Rafael Correa, that led to the 31 October 2017 schism that witnessed the near expulsion from not only the leadership of Alianza Pais, but also from the Presidency, a decision which was almost immediately reversed by Ecuador’s courts which are closely tied to US and Western European banking interests.
Just as US President Donald Trump has made it his mission to reverse every single policy of the previous Obama administration because he really, really hates Barack Obama and everyone who “voted” for him, Lenin Moreno has waged a relentless campaign against Correa and his alter-globalist policies which favored geopolitical non-alignment and protecting Ecuador’s financial institutions from the foreign banking oligarchies. This isn’t so much due to political or ideological differences, but rather the fact that Moreno, for whatever reason, at some point came to really, really hate Correa and everyone who “voted” for him.
In reality, Moreno is quite aware of the circumstances that led to Correa coming under pressure from the G8 to provide “refuge” to Assange in 2012, as these agreements were all hammered out and negotiated outside official political and intelligence channels. As his right-hand man, Moreno was present all of these informal and extra-governmental meetings and there doesn’t appear to be much evidence supporting his claim that he opposed Correa on this issue. Being a small, underdeveloped country enduring a decades-long drug war, Ecuador was and still isn’t in any position to resist demands from the entire international community.
It isn’t just the US, UK and Western European powers that want Assange silenced. It’s every single person in any oligarchical position of power, authority and/or wealth in every single country who wants him bound and gagged and out of the public spotlight permanently. But the last thing any of them would want is to see Assange become a martyr. We’ve reported previously that having Assange physically travel to Ecuador in order to reside there was always out of the question and not in his best interests due to the escalating drug wars throughout Latin America, which are being used by the US and its NATO allies to coerce and bully Central and South American nations to submit to their control. Those who refuse and resist, like President Daniel Ortega of Nicaragua, find themselves subject to a US-led global propaganda campaign of mafia-style harassment and terror. As reported by Al Burke, Ortega’s popularity has surged in recent months, an undeniable fact which debunks both the neocon and so-called “progressive” mass media narrative that Ortega is an unpopular despot who needs to be taken out.
We really do live in interesting times when those calling themselves “leftists” and “progressives” shamelessly prostitute themselves to the neocon regime change war machine, which has left previously stable and economically prosperous states like Libya in total ruin and anarchy to the point that the only effective regime since the brutal collapse of the Gaddafi state has been ISIS and its al-Qaeda affiliates, or “freedom fighting rebels” as Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, John Bolton and John McCain love to remind everyone. They’ve been attempting to subject Syria to the same scorched earth tactics, which have failed thanks to the regional leadership and realpolitik of Iranian Revolutionary Guards Major General Ghassem Soleimani, who almost singlehandedly coordinated efforts between the Assad administration, Iraq, Lebanon, and Russia to crush ISIS into oblivion. Soleimani has also been the principal architect of Iran’s years-long war against heroin, opium and human traffickers in the border regions of the Caucasus, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, which has long protected Europe, Russia and the US from becoming subject to the Israeli and Saudi-led Wahhabi agenda to have the West destroy itself socially and culturally through the drug and white slavery trade. For his efforts in helping save Europe and America from being flooded by heroin, hashish, Wahhabi terrorists masquerading as “refugees,” and destroying the ability of Eastern European, Israeli and Wahhabi sex traffickers to kidnap young women and children throughout the region, the US and Western mass media have labeled Soleimani a “terrorist” and given Israel and their Wahhabi allies the go-ahead to try to assassinate him.
Likewise, without the work of Julian Assange and WikiLeaks, our entire world today would be radically different from that which existed over a decade ago, before the Collateral Murder and Cablegate leaks, which directly led to Edward Snowden making the decision to release his leaks from the NSA, all of which together reveal the Five Eyes global surveillance regime, which not even the USSR or any of its satellite states were ever able to achieve. And Five Eyes is simply the tip of a much, much larger and insidious iceberg.
Only a fraction of the leaks accumulated by WikiLeaks, Edward Snowden, among others, have been released over the years and they are spread out across hundreds, if not thousands of servers worldwide, and less than a handful of people have the keys to unlock the encryption. The global oligarchs have no way of preventing these keys from being released to the public, and they are terrified of the masses and the potential for total revolt against the status quo.
For anyone who despises the corrupt and degenerate lunatics running our so-called “democracies,” Julian Assange and WikiLeaks are vital to the protection of the masses across the world from outrageous government conduct and state-sponsored terrorism by the US, israel and Saudi Arabia against their own citizens and everyone else living and breathing in this world.
The only way out of the tangled mess of bloodshed, famine and genocide being waged by the global powers in the New Great Game is full transparency and accountability across all governments and multinational entities. The desperation and hysteria among the oligarchs is obvious, because try as they might—and they’ve spent millions upon millions of dollars subjecting Assange and WikiLeaks to all manner of state-sanctioned psychological and media terrorism—they will never be able to kill those ideas and values shared by the 99.9% of human beings on this planet.
The fact that Assange has recently made clear that he is more than willing to testify before a US Senate Panel is further proof of his fearlessness in the face of potentially bloody opposition from the oligarchs. What he would reveal would be the most massive revelations made public thus far and he has one other key advantage working in favor: he’s smarter than his enemies, by several orders of magnitude.
The parasitical one percent are their own worst enemy and WikiLeaks is making it impossible for these criminals and warmongers to hide their secrets. It goes without saying that this is a very good thing.
